Story

I don’t think I ever told this story before and it popped in my head last night. My sophomore year in high school, we watched It’s a Wonderful Life in my English class. Then our assignment was to write an essay about all the things that would be different had we never been born. Well I sat there and went through so many things in my head, all having the same outcome that was already there. I strained to think of something, anything that would’ve been different if I never lived. I came up with nothing and it made me distraught. The teacher tried talking to me to help me think of something, but I just started crying because I felt that I hadn’t done anything that affected anyone and who cares if I was never alive anyway. No one would notice.

I remember trying to get help from my mom about it. She told me how important I was to my dad and that I changed his life drastically, so that made me feel better. I can’t remember what I put in my essay though, but I’m sure that’s part of it. Of course now I feel that I have made a difference here and there, but the feeling of despair that I had in class that day was awful.

I should’ve posted this before I left, but didn’t think about it. We’re in Tahoe for the week with friends for Thanksgiving. Our cabin has no internet though, sigh. I am at a coffee place using their net for schoolwork stuff. I guess I’ll have ample time to write a paper and read and such. It’s raining here right now, and is gray. I miss the sun. We’re coming back next Sunday. Hope you all have a good Thanksgiving.

Oh, on set the other day I thought to myself, “Is that the stupid 18-year-old ho?” Then all of a sudden she is standing right next to me grabbing my hair saying how much she loves it. Turns out it wasn’t the eyoh but she sure did look like her. I thought it was pretty funny.

I did a scene with Angelina’s ex-hubby and didn’t realize it… I was told before who he was but had forgotten. I’m glad I forgot though because I might’ve been tempted to ask him how the sex was haha. I think I might be an okay actress in silent films haha. Don’t try to give me any lines though :)

I’m scared about my friend Jon getting shipped off to Afghanistan tomorrow. He will be there 6 months. 2 months training, 3 fighting, 1 getting ready to come back. Then he’ll be home for a year before he goes to Iraq for 15 months, which is likely to be extended to 18 months he says. This is all assuming he doesn’t get killed over there. UGH.

He’s gotten the small pox vaccine and anthrax vaccine (which requires multiple injections blah). So at least he’ll be okay there. I’m more worried about bullets, explosions, everything. Thankfully I got to talk to him on the phone tonight :) I hope he’ll be ok. Please send good vibes his way!

The pic with him and his hot girlfriend is from Halloween last year.

Farfromhüman — Stop VW’s Cruel Bird Experiments!

What do European robins, garden warblers, and zebra finches have in common? They’re all beautiful birds who love the freedom of flight and their natural surroundings. They all have glorious voices and instincts to match. And they have all been decapitated in cruel experiments sponsored by Volkswagen.

IDA was sickened to learn that the Volkswagen Foundation is paying experimenters at German and U.S. universities to capture and use these beautiful songbirds in worthless experiments that terrify the birds before they are ruthlessly killed for curiosity’s sake. Although the use of any animal for experimentation is objectionable, the thought of birds—who are universal symbols of joy and freedom—captured, caged, terrorized, and vivisected, is particularly heinous. Birds are indeed so fragile that they often die of fright from the capture or transportation process.

These atrocious acts are taking place at the University of Oldenburg in Germany and Duke University in North Carolina. Songbirds captured from the wild and captive canaries and finches are exposed to different light cycles or are fitted with eye caps glued tightly to their heads to block out all light. Researchers then cut the birds’ heads off to slice their retinas out of their eyes, and dissect and study their brains for clues to the secret of migration.

IDA has written to Volkswagen of America’s new CEO, Stefen Jacoby, asking him to assure us, for a start, that no more birds will be killed using the company’s money. Today we are kicking off a campaign starting with a demonstration in downtown Detroit, home to the automaker’s U.S. headquarters where activists will wield a giant banner that reads “VW: Stop Killing Birds!”

The Volkswagen Foundation has funded many other experiments on animals, and we want Mr. Jacoby to end them all. We’ve asked him to start with the birds, and from there we will work with the company to make sure that the Volkswagen Foundation, which does many good things, stops funding all deadly projects. The company may insist that it has nothing to do with the Volkswagen Foundation’s policies and functions but the foundation would not have come into being in 1961 without the automaker, and revenues for the foundation continue to accrue from returns on the VW shares held by the State of Lower Saxony.

You can send an email to the Prez/CEO of VW here.

Tim Kring on The Heroes SUCK

Posted on November 7th, 2007 in Joy of Zen by joyofzen

I got this stuff from here, and I’ll add my own remarks :)

THE PACE IS TOO SLOW
”We assumed the audience wanted season 1 — a buildup of intrigue about these characters and the discovery of their powers. We taught [them] to expect a certain kind of storytelling. They wanted adrenaline. We made a mistake.”

**A buildup and intrigue is great… I don’t need to see the SAME plot being taken from season 1

THE WORLD-SAVING STAKES SHOULD HAVE BEEN ESTABLISHED SOONER
The premonition of nuclear apocalypse created a larger context that unified every story line last season. Kring now sees that Volume 2 (the first 11 episodes of season 2) would have been better served if Peter’s vision of viral Armageddon had appeared in the season premiere rather than episode 7. ”We took too long to get to the big-picture story,” he says.

**The big picture of season 1 “save the world”

THE ROOKIES DIDN’T GREET THEMSELVES PROPERLY
New Heroes Monica (Dana Davis), Maya (Dania Ramirez), and Alejandro (Shalim Ortiz) ‘’shouldn’t have been introduced in separate story lines that felt unattached to the show. The way we introduced Elle (Kristen Bell) — by weaving her in via Peter’s story line — is a more logical way to bring new characters into the show.” (That said, Kring says a few newbies won’t make it beyond this second volume, which wraps Dec. 3.)

**I was wondering how many new people were going to be thrown at us this season, but I actually don’t think it was a problem to have them be separate

HIRO WAS IN JAPAN WAY TOO LONG
Hiro’s (Masi Oka) time-bending adventure in 17th-century Japan — where he mentored samurai hero Takezo Kensei (David Anders) — finally came to an end on Nov. 5. But Kring says it ‘’should have [lasted] three episodes. We didn’t give the audience enough story to justify the time we allotted it.”

**THREE!!!! Yes! omg that would’ve been great, this shit went on way too fucking long

YOUNG LOVE STINKS
Kring regrets sticking Claire (Hayden Panettiere) with a super-dud boyfriend and forcing Hiro to moon over a cutesy princess. ”I’ve seen more convincing romances on TV,” he admits. ”In retrospect, I don’t think romance is a natural fit for us.”

**Hiro falls in love easily apparently. And they are making Claire be extra dumb this season, as for “fryboy” I wouldn’t mind not seeing him again, but maybe he’ll kill horned rimmed glasses man first

Someday I hope to feel like I’ve caught up instead of always being behind. And being ahead would even be better.
